What type of shirts are they printed on?
Most of our adult tees are printed on Alternative Apparel brand t-shirts.
After trying out loads of different t-shirt companies, we chose this Atlanta-based
brand because their t-shirts are high quality, supersoft, preshrunk, and
built to last. They also come in beautiful colors and styles and are great
for printing. Occasionally we might want to use a style or color that
Alternative Apparel doesn't offer, so we might use another brand, but
never at the expense of quality or comfiness.
Kids and babies t-shirts are printed either on Alternative Apparel, Kavio,
or American Apparel t-shirts- which gives MailboxTees the most opportunity
for high quality shirts in a great variety of styles and colors.
All of the tees are 100% cotton or a cotton blend. Sometimes we use organic
cotton tees.
As you'll notice if you check out the t-shirt
gallery, we don't just use plain old standard issue t-shirts- sometimes
we do ringers, long sleeve tees, striped tees, you name it- because who
wants a drawer full of lookalike t-shirts?
Are the men's and women's tees exactly the same?
While the ink color stays consistent, we do often use slightly different
styles and colors for the men's and women's tees. This allows us to offer
the ladies some more fitted, girly styles and colors, while keeping the
men far far away from things like deep-plunging V-necks and see-through
shirts.
Who prints the tees?
We tried out a bunch of different printers to find the best one. Some
of our designs are printed by hand, but for others we use a local San
Francisco-based print shop, Ape
Do Good, because they provide the absolute best quality screenprinting
around, and plus they are really really nice people.
How do I know what size to order?
Click here to pop out a size
chart to help you figure out how to select the right size. The t-shirts
are preshrunk so they will not shrink if washed according to recommendations.
And if you get your first shirt and it's not the right size, you can easily
switch it!
What is the garment care information for the tees?
We recommend machine washing your tees inside out in cold water and tumble
drying on low for best results.
Will the t-shirts shrink?
The t-shirts we use are prewashed and preshrunk, so they will not shrink significantly if washed correctly (see previous question.) There may be slight shrinkage on certain styles, or if washed and dried in warmer temperatures.
I really love one of my t-shirts and want more. Can I buy them individually?
For the standard adult, kids, and babies subscriptions, because of the
limited nature, this is only sometimes possible. However, we may be able
to accommodate your special request. Email us with your request at customerservice@mailboxtees.com
and we'll see what we can do.
Can I see the t-shirts before I get them?
No, the t-shirts are created each month and are a surprise, so you have
to wait until you get it in the mail to see what it looks like!
Are the pictures on the website actual t-shirts I will
get?
No, the pictures on the website are from past subscriptions, and may give
an idea of some of the things our artists have done, but you will not
get the same designs in your series. However, if you get the "grab bag"
subscription series, you will almost surely get a few t-shirts from past
subscriptions.
Do I get anything else in the packages with my
t-shirts?
Yes! Each month you will receive a postcard with an artist's bio, and
usually, the artist's statement about his or her inspiration for the design.
In the first package, you (or your gift recipient) will get a cute card
announcing the start of the subscription and a little bit about how it
works. The card also provides some useful information about how to contact
us, in case you need to change the size or address or something.
When do the tees arrive each
month?
Most orders will be processed within 3-5 business days, pending credit
verification. "Nature vs. Humankind" and "Metropolitan"
tees ship are released around the 25th of each month. When you order a
subscripton tee the first one will be shipped within 5-7 business days,
and the subsequent ones will go out in the normal shipping cycle. "Grab
Bag" tees ship within 5-7 business days from date of order with subsequent
tees arriving around the same date each month. Expect international orders
to take a bit longer to arrive. Feel free to note any specific ship date
requests in the "comments" section at checkout and we will contact
you to arrange your ideal shipping date with you.
How do I order for a recipient outside of the U.S.?
The order process is no different for recipients outside of the U.S. because
we love everyone equally.

Can I cancel the subscription and get a refund?

there are no returns or cancellations on your purchase. But you're welcome
to give them away, or even have them sent to someone else. Email customerservice@mailboxtees.com
